Responsible for all future expansion of the SKELEC network

The primary function of the transmission and distribution department of SKELEC is to plan, build and maintain the 11KV distribution network on the island of St. Kitts. Currently we have the ability to reach about 95% of the islands inhabitants. There are five major sectors in the T&D department

Administration: Process and oversee all administrative functions for the staff of about 70 persons
Control and Operations: This branch deals with the stability of the network through load management, protection and monitoring via our SCADA system
Construction and Maintenance: The branch is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the network infrastructure. At the core of this sections regular maintenance practices and ensuring that all cost are kept to a minimum while ensuring maximum reliability are fundamental
Metering Services: This branch is responsible for installing and maintaining all the meters on the island. Works closely with the Customer Service department to ensure timely and utility accurate bills
Planning: Responsible for all future expansion of the SKELEC network. Works closely with all other branches of the department to ensure that all ideas are integrated into making the system robust, while flexible
